Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY

Good News!

New York City is the safest big city in the country, according to a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI’s 2002 "Crime in the United States" indicates that while crime increased nationwide, New York City’s crime rate actually decreased 5% to the lowest level since the 1960s. In addition, the city’s murder rate dropped 9.6% in 2002 to reach the lowest level since 1963.

The FBI’s ranking of
New York City as the safest large city in the United States means that, of all American cities with populations of 1 million or more, New York City has the lowest rate of total crime committed.

So come y'all and visit now!

Not sure I'm convinced! :)

You know they used to call Minneapolis "Murderapolis". I think the city has been cleaned up since then, but you'd never know it by all the news. There are shootings, stabbings, etc all the time - or so it seems.

I believe that Minneapolis has a lot of murders, it is not surprising to me at all.

The reason that NYC has a low crime rate is because we are such a self sustaining urban environment--- people work here AND live here. The powers that be actually live IN the City---which can not be said for most cities. We demand it to be safe, and we also have a rockin’ public transportation system that benefits all New Yorkers. Being poor in New York is tough, but here there are vehicles(literally and figuratively) to get you out of the ghetto. The Ghettos in America’s cities are a national shame, and what is most shameful about them is that they are isolated, ignored and forgotten.

With this said, Minneapolis is one of my favorite US cities! I love it!
